Where Has Your Hope Gone?
For many in America, Hope has been challenged with disappointment, cultural changes and financial challenges. It is easy to lose sight of a Hopeful tomorrow filled with dreams and inspiration. Do you remember the hope you once had that filled your heart with joy and gladness? Is it a distant memory?
Do you desperately need to recapture the essence of a dream for tomorrow? Have you even forgotten what Hope represents? If so, Project Humanity is for you!
Project Humanity exists to challenge people of all ages, religions, ethnic backgrounds and walks of life to serve in the overwhelming HIV/AIDS crisis and humanitarian needs in our world! We challenge you to turn an inward and self-sustaining outlook toward a generous and rewarding outreach to others!
We are a humanitarian organization focussed on providing reasonable housing, agriculture education, clean water projects, HIV/AIDS education, and orphan care. We mobilize people from all walks of life and professional training to take their marketable skills and partner with us to make a difference in our projects!
Project Humanity focusses on the toughest issues challenging our world today. We are a grassroots movement stirring in the hearts of collegians and adult volunteers!
We meaningfully and purposefully connect with people by meeting practical needs and leading out to call others to join in to make a difference in our world!
In short, we mobilize people of all ages to serve others through one of our International Partnerships!
Remembering -- Rediscovering -- Hope really is yours to seize! Join with us today as we remember what it is like to care for others first and leave the humdrum world of "self" and "me" and once again return to a culture of community based care and concern for others -- around the world!
"Hope is to our spirits what oxygen is to our lungs. Lose hope and you die. They may not bury you for awhile, but without hope you are dead inside. The only way to face the future is to fly straight into it on the wings of hope....hope is the energy of the soul. Hope is the power of tomorrow." (Lewis Smedes)
Rediscover Hope, South Africa!
The region of Kwazulu-Natal in South Africa is situated between the beautiful Drakensberg Mountains, and offers a Mediterranean climate of warm dry summers and moderate rainy winters. Kwazulu-Natal's population of approximately 10 million people is made up of serveral diverse cultures. This cultural mix is locally known the 'Rainbow Nation'.
Kwazulu-Natal is considered one of the most beautiful cities in the world and is situated several hours southeast from Johannesburg. Hidden in this beauty are hundreds of thousands of Africans who suffer from HIV and AIDS. We are humbled to bring the world's attention to this area, as an estimated 80% of the population is HIV Positive.
Among these hundreds of thousands of AIDS victims, orphans, single parents and others have needs well beyond their resources. In fact, many of these hundreds of thousands feel left behind without family or friends -- without Hope! Many of these have no home.
Project Humanity has adopted Kwazulu-Natal as our first Rediscover Hope City. Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Project Humanity intends to build or rehabilitate 500 honorable homes for those with AIDS in the next 5 years. We also are engaged in clean water projects, agricultural projects, and HIV/AIDS education in public schools in the area. We offer Hope to orphans and orphanages, personally invest in the lives of those without Hope and know that one life touched is a life changed!
Project Humanity exists to challenge people to serve internationally, to take service to areas of the world where help is desperately needed and to see our participant's lives changed in their hometowns through increased service and care for others.
1. Project Humanity feels every person has a part in touching and transforming the world. We believe all able-bodied people should GO! GOING changes your life, opens your eyes and heart to new perspectives and allows you to learn (and you learn things on an international humanitarian trip that you could not learn while you were at home)!
2. Project Humanity wants to make the biggest difference we can by meeting real human needs, learning and experienceing other cultures and become more sensitive to the needs of others less fortunate. More, we want YOU to experience Hope in a new way. Giving Hope to others is as rewarding as receiving it yourself.
3. Project Humanity exists to see people take the next step in their volunteer service. We are all on a journey -- and Project Humanity purposefully challenges all people to take a step of faith and serve others -- whether you are 18 or 80! Keep SERVING!
Where is Project Humanity Currently Focused?
We look for and take the most challenging situations head-on! When we select an area to focus our efforts and resources on, we look to make a long-term commitment to helping. While some humanitarian relief organizations have places all over the world and may go one or two times a year, we seek to maximize the impact by bringing teams to the same area to enhance and make the largest impact possible. Right now, Project Humanity is excited to be focussed on the Kwazulu-Natal area of South Africa.
How Can I Become a Part of a Project Humanity Project?
Do three things!
Dream: Look inside! What are you longing for? Do you long to experience life in a tribal type situation? Do you want to give back out of the abundance of what you have? Do you really believe that you can make a difference in the world? Make the biggest impact and take a step in this journey!
Adventure Seekers Take Note: Our trips are not for the faint of heart! They are challenging off-road adventures that will test your mental, emotional and physical stamina. Ask questions about the trip you are considering and seek to be well-informed. Remember, we select some of the most challenging situations in the world!
Walk With Faith: The adventure begins when you say YES! Have faith that your funds will be raised! Have faith that showing kindness and goodwill will change the world! Have faith in your fellow man and see that we are all interconnected!
If you are unsure of where you want to serve but want to begin raising support, Project Humanity will hold the funds you raise for up to one year while you chose the project that fits you! To apply and chose a project, please visit our upcoming projects page.
How Are Donations Distributed and Used?
We take the most challenging situations head-on!
When we select an area to focus our efforts and resources on, we look to make a long-term commitment in our helping. While some organizations try to have places all over the world and may go one or two times a year, we seek to maximize our works' impact by bringing teams to the same area to enhance and make the largest impact possible. We strictly comply with all IRS directives for financial accountability and financial expenditures.
This allows for continuous development in a region and allows the greatest impact over a period of time! Right now, Project Humanity is focused on working in South Africa.
If you wish to make a donation specifically for our "Embrace A Village" emphasis, 100% of these funds go to meeting our goal of building 500 new homes in five years!
Who Controls and Manages Project Humanity?
Project Humanity is governed by a Board of Directors that determines policy and oversees and guides the mission of Project Humanity. Board members are dedicated volunteer leaders who are deeply concerned about humanitarian issues and are also deeply concerned about nurturing international service opportunities. Additionally, we maintain an 11 member Advisory Council that meets regularly to guide the work of Project Humanity. Those who serve in either capacity have a deep commitment to volunteerism and bring many experiences and deep desires to change the world!
Project Humanity does not (and will not) own or operate a "headquarters" nor do we employ full-time staff. All funds collected by Project Humanity go directly to field costs and to operate our programs.
